December 2008
On Monday, Dec. 1,, University of Central Arkansas alumni and friends who belong to the prestigious President’s Club were treated to a private production of UCA’s Ye Old Christmas Madrigal Feaste.

HAVEN Director, Jenny Morse said, “Once again the wonderful hostesses of the HAVEN Christmas Coffee held a spectacular holiday event! The best soups are made with a base of homemade stock and fresh ingredients. Obviously this can be a time-consuming endeavor. You can reduce your time in the kitchen by using canned or frozen broths or bouillon bases. Even so, plan on taking your time with a good soup or stew.
You can use ingredients when cooking soup that would otherwise be thrown away. Celery tops, asparagus ends, broccoli stalks, onion skins, and fish heads are great examples. These give plenty of flavor and you remove them when your soup base is flavorful enough.
Throughout life, certain milestones are reached along the way that merit a celebration and a moment of reflection. Milestones build the foundation of one’s life to create character and depth. Usually recognized in years, key life events are marked with 16 candles, first driver’s license, a visit to the voting booth for the first time, turning 21, and a grand 50th birthday celebration. Each year brings changes, memories, and lessons learned.
I listened as my running partner relayed an ongoing frustration with a friend from work. Not wanting to be rude, she had allowed herself to get too heavily involved with her friend’s problems. Now her friend was always calling her or dropping by, expecting inordinate amounts of time to listen to her problems and offer solutions.

The big gleaming New Years Ball (covered in LED energy-saving illumination, make note) has made its sparkling descent over Time’s Square. Now it’s time to make good on those annual New Year’s resolutions we optimistically pen as a brand new year full of new opportunities and promise approaches!
Viki Teague, proprietor of The Shops @ 1015 Oak, has started a new chapter in her life, and she wants to help other women realize they can do the same thing.
The store offers a variety of one-of-a-kind items, including antiques, furniture, clothing, jewelry, and art. Teague explained how she came into the business.
“I had a lot of experience in several businesses in Conway and had retired about 10 years ago. I did the grandmother thing a short while, but always dabbled in art, fabric, color. That stayed with me. I grew up at my grandmother’s feet learning about sewing.”
This month I would like to invite you to dream — dream big. As you dream, I want you to consider one question — a question that holds life-altering potential. This question altered the course of my life. The question is, “What would it be like if…?” While simple, this question holds a major key to unlocking a new year and a new you. At the heart of this question resides an incredible opportunity to imagine your life free in Christ.
