Thank you to all the businesses and organizations who participated in Red, Green and Jeans this year. With your help this year, Red, Green, and Jeans was able to raise more than $3,500 for Dazzle Daze, an annual fundraiser for the Conway Regional Women’s Council. These funds will help upgrade the Conway Regional Women’s Center’s infant security technology, purchase Well@Home remote monitoring units, and expand Conway Regional Fitness Center’s Assistance Program for low income families.

Tears filled my eyes as I watched the veterinarian put our 18-year-old cat, Callie, to sleep. Insisting on being part of it, my youngest son, Nathan, clung to my neck. One of my older daughters had already retreated to the car, unable to watch. Callie had been part of our lives for as long as I could remember, and my heart was breaking for my children, who would dearly miss her.

Have you ever looked at your life and asked the question, “Why?” Why all the heartaches, trials, pains, challenges, losses, disappointments, mistakes, and missed opportunities? Have you ever thought, “Life should be easier than this?” Can I be the first to admit, I have!

My kids love to do crafts. My oldest starts begging just as soon as the seatbelts unbuckle in the Hobby Lobby parking lot; “please, please, Momma, let’s go down the art project aisle!”
Nothing spells wonderfully challenging like doing art projects with a barely two-year-old who wants to be (and earnestly thinks he is) just as capable of doing as much as his 5-year-old brother. Things really get interesting when we purchase one art project to complete as a team. Art project kits cost money and sometimes sharing is a necessity!

Two former teachers with a love of art have created a place in downtown Conway where children and adults can learn, play, and make their own functional pieces.
Jennifer Seifert opened Doodles for You paint-your-own pottery studio at 931 B Locust Avenue in July. Her interest in painting ceramics goes back several years. She was painting dinnerware sets to give as gifts at a paint-your-own pottery studio in Little Rock. Then she found a place in Conway – Not So Artsy – where she could paint her own without the drive.

Some heart attacks are sudden and intense, but most of them start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. Often the people affected aren’t sure what’s wrong and wait too long before getting help. Here are some of the signs that can mean a heart attack is happening:
CHEST DISCOMFORT
Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.
DISCOMFORT IN OTHER AREAS OF THE UPPER BODY

Make Easy Lifestyle Changes. For Example:
• Look for short breaks each day (approx. 10-30 minutes) to implement heart healthy activities such as walking or other types of enjoyable physical activity
• Take the Go Red Heart Checkup at www.GoRedForWomen.org to learn your heart disease risk
• Plan quick and simple healthy meals
• Know your family heart health history

Tips for Women at Work

• Add extra walks to and from the water cooler
• Take ten minute walks between meetings
