As we welcome the New Year, Women’s Inc. is excited to launch our New Year, New You Makeover Contest. We will be accepting nominations over the next few weeks, and will reveal our winner in the May issue. If you or someone you know is in need of a makeover, please send a photo and a short description of why this person should be our makeover winner. Nominations may be sent to makeover@womensinc.net or dropped off in person at the Log Cabin Democrat. Amy Blaylock, our cover story this month, is starting off this New Year with a new position as Executive Director of United Way of Faulkner County. She and her staff are providing a fresh new perspective for United Way. As a recent graduate of the Faulkner County Leadership Institute, Amy says this program helped “spark” her interest in the position when it became available. She was able to put her love of volunteerism and a job all under one roof. Amy is dedicated to making 2010 a great year for the United Way. Congratulations, Amy on a well-deserved new position! Many of us set goals for the New Year. ...those infamous New Year’s resolutions! Many people include some sort of healthy resolution on their list: losing weight, exercising, and eating better to name a few. Earlene Hannah, certified Body Recall instructor and Kinesiology instructor at Hendrix College, has been helping people reach their fitness goals and keep those resolutions for many years. Earlene says, “Helping folks live longer with gracefulness will be my legacy.” No doubt, after her retirement from Hendrix next year, Earlene will still be “working” full time at helping others incorporate exercise into their daily routine. Our downtown feature this month is In b-Tween, a children’s and teen’s clothing store in Downtown Conway. Debbie Christian is the owner of this trendy new store. Her store features clothing, accessories, and birthday party packages. One of the unique attractions of this store is the glitter spa. At the glitter spa kids, can mix their own bubbles, lotion, and lip gloss using glitter and different colors. Come visit Debbie and check out In b-Tween for all the trends for the kids and teens in your life. Finally, this month, Chef Jill McCollum, CC gives us a sampling of some of the great recipes in the new Junior Auxiliary cookbook, Simply Irresistible…Too. Spectacular Hummus Dip, Veggie Pasta Salad, and Sue’s Easy Strawberry Trifle are the recipes featured. Pick up your copy of this cookbook and help out a great cause. For locations where the cookbooks are sold see page 24. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year! Until Next Month,
