Pitza 42, which opened on September 20th, is owned by local couple Austin and Ashton Samuelson. Austin is a Faulkner County native who attended Vilonia
High School, and Ashton is from Arkadelphia. The couple met while attending Ouachita Baptist University, where Austin earned a degree in business finance and Ashton in early childhood education.
Dr. Brandie Martin of Conway Women’s Health Center embodies everything
that is right in medicine: she’s honest, straightforward, aggressive, and is a true
advocate for her patients.
Married to Trey, who is also employed by Conway Regional Medical Center as
a nurse anesthetist, they are parents to J.T. and Tinsley. Brandie grew up in Ruston,
Louisiana and pursued her undergraduate studies at Louisiana Tech. She went
on to attend medical school at LSU Med Center in Shreveport, where she also did
her residency. She left her residency and came straight to Conway Regional Medical
Debbie Eckert’s interview began with prayer for guidance and a gracious greeting at the entry to her business, Debbie’s Hair Productions. Alternately tearful and passionate, it was an honor to talk with Debbie about her 30 years as a woman in business in Conway.
Upon meeting Sue Gates, you are not surprised to
learn she is a retired teacher. She is naturally gracious,
nurturing, and attentive. In addition, she comes from
a family that is committed to education, particularly
education in Conway.
A native and current resident of Conway, Sue
earned her bachelors degree in Elementary Education
from the State College of Arkansas, which is now
the University of Central Arkansas. Her husband,
Charles, is also a retired teacher. The couple, married
for 50 years, has two sons, Bob and Ronnie, a
daughter-in-law, Suzanne, and one grandson, Luke,
All the world may be a stage, but Mary Ruth Marotte would specifically like to see patrons facing the stages of the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre. Mary Ruth serves as the Executive Director of the theatre, the only one of its kind in the state.
The upbeat, focused, and organized Jessica Zimmerman is the new owner of Conway’s A Southern Tradition. However, she had no intention of remaining a southerner herself until life led her back to Conway.
A group of merchants on Oak Street in downtown is seeking to establish itself as “wedding central” for brides in the area.
Ashley Carson of Anything and Everything Design and Sommer Holden of SoHo Photography collaborated together on the idea to tap into wedding planning resources within a small strip of Oak Street.
Carson explained in a letter to the merchants that engaged couples can find everything they need for their wedding celebration in two blocks. She said it is the only place in the state where all these services are available in such close proximity to one another.
